| Magnetic Red Metallic with black vinyl interior and black soft top, odometer shows 69,000 miles, automatic, power steering, power brakes, Pontiac Rally II wheels, and good tires. We especially like the ’66 with its vertical, stacked headlights, purposeful but subtle Coke bottle styling and hood scoop. This driver quality GTO clone started life as a Tempest LeMans convertible with Sprint option, and was upgraded in the past with GTO trim and correct 389 cubic inch hi-performance V8 with 335 horsepower and a grin-inducing 431 lb-ft of torque. Recent work includes rewiring, powertrain rebuild, new black soft top, and paint in 2005 Corvette color Magnetic Red Metallic (falls between original colors Montero Red and Burgundy). Brand new full length dual exhaust from manifold to rear bumper (just under a mile on a ’66 A-body). Great looking car at 5 paces, shows flaws upon close inspection, but a great ride and drive with a smaller Grant GT steering wheel and Sun tach on upper right of steering column, nice interior with recent seat covers, carpets, and mostly correct bits, but all with a commensurate price. No AC, although vintage AC could be added economically, no radio in dash. 3-speed floor-mounted automatic, a world better than Pontiac’s 2-speed automatic (the automatic transmission in 1966 GTOs). I will consider financing this car with a minimum of 30% (at least $5,700 in trade equity and / or cash) down. In our showroom, price of $19,000 is flexible, but is already below CPI and NADA classic car retail values.
